Ireland No 1 when it comes to friendliness – Lonely Planet!

Posted on : 17-02-2013

Ireland was chosen by Lonely Planet as the World’s Friendliest Country. As Europe’s fastest growing holiday choice and with annual visits from more than 6 million overseas tourists, who are we to disagree? Ireland’s history is based on people working, prospering, socialising, and sometimes fighting together. Tourists can witness it firsthand by watching events like the Galway Arts Festival, complete with street performers, comedy acts and visual arts. Or every night in any pub in Ireland.

Based on the country’s falling crime rates, the people of Ireland would rather cosy up at the pub than inflict pain on visitors. Most violent crimes occur at a rate that is 75% lower than that of the U.S., with the very scenic rural areas enjoying even less crime than that. In a place that has its own share of tough times, the people have found comfort through socialising and welcoming newcomers. So stay safe by kicking back and enjoying a Guinness with a few Irish lads and lassies.

Friendly countries will undoubtedly give you a safer, happier and more interesting holidays. Yet it’s the friendly people within that friendly place who will make you feel welcome and be the most important part of the journey.
